VP inaugurates 200,000-capacity Benue yam storage centre.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday reiterated the commitment of Federal Government to rebuild the communities destroyed by armed herdsmen in  Benue State.

The Vice President stated this on Tuesday in Zaki Biam in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State during the inauguration of  reconstructed of Zaki Biam Yam Market and 200,000 capacity yam storage facility.

The storage facility was built by the Federal Government and donated to the Benue State Government.

Osibanjo, who inaugurated the projects virtually, said Zaki Biam accounted for over 70 per cent of cultivated yams in the country, adding that over 200,000 trucks of yams go out of the market on a daily basis

“This market has little storage facility, hence the construction of the storage facility. However, our government will provide access roads, solar street lights in the market,” the vice president said.

Earlier, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, called on Federal Government to stop free entry of armed herdsmen from other countries into Nigeria.
