John Obaro, the Founder and Group Managing Director of SystemSpecs Holdings Limited, has been honored with an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Kings University, Osun State, in recognition of his significant contributions to Nigeria’s technology sector. The award, presented at the university’s 5th and 6th convocation ceremony on October 25, celebrates Obaro’s impact on digital innovation and his leadership in fostering technological progress in Nigeria.
During the ceremony, Kings University Chancellor and Kingsway International Christian Centre Senior Pastor, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, praised Obaro as a visionary whose work motivates future generations of tech innovators. Obaro also delivered a lecture titled “Navigating the Digital Era: Embracing Creativity and Unlocking the Boundaries of Technology,” where he highlighted the importance of creativity in advancing digital technology, urging students to embrace innovative thinking to unlock new technological boundaries.
Obaro emphasized, “As we navigate this digital age, creativity becomes the key to unlocking boundaries and pushing the frontiers of technology,” noting that technology’s integration into fields such as law, medicine, and engineering can open unprecedented opportunities for growth.
He also encouraged graduates to take ownership of innovation, stressing that their courage to push boundaries will be instrumental in shaping the future. “You are the inheritors of a legacy, with the tools to build on past achievements and the responsibility to chart new courses for progress,” he said.
Ashimolowo echoed this sentiment, urging graduates to recognize Nigeria’s potential and seize opportunities through creativity and innovation. He remarked, “There is money in Nigeria, and you can find it by making a difference through creativity, innovation, the digital world, and business ideas.”
