Akin Abayomi, Lagos commissioner of health, says the state did not record any case of COVID-19 in 24 hours.
In a Twitter post on Tuesday, Abayomi said no case was confirmed on April 20.
On Monday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 38 new COVID-19 cases in six states except Lagos.
The state had recorded 70 cases the previous day – on Sunday.
Abayomi, however, announced two new deaths from COVID-19 complications, and the state’s total number of fatalities is currently 16.
“No new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020,” Abayomi said.
“However, COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian; male who returned from India in January, 2020.
“The second death involved a 36 year old Nigerian; female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any COVID-19 confirmed case.
“Total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.
“I urge you all to remain vigilant and report any concern about COVID-19 infection in our communities.”
However, nine COVID-19 patients were discharged on Tuesday and as of 7:30 pm on April 21, 2020, the total number of discharged patients in the state stands at 107.
