The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode has called Lagosians, especially all fun lovers and school children, to be part of the various entertainment events lined up for the Christmas season and end of the year celebration by the State Government.
The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Permanent Secretary, Office of Civic Engagement, Mrs. Joke Odeyemi, made the call while declaring open the 33rd edition of the Lagos Television, LTV, annual Christmas Fair at “De Blue Roof”, LTV premises, Ikeja.
She informed all residents that the State Government had concluded plans to make the entire yuletide period a season of endless fun and entertainment for all fun lovers.
She said: “Several interesting events have been held in the course of the year and even as we speak, preparations have been concluded to make Lagos Street Carnival an unforgettable experience” and further confirm the status of Lagos as the entertainment hub of Africa.
Mrs. Ambode advised that while celebrating the Christmas season, merrymakers should be mindful of the integral message and essence of the entire celebration which is Christ – the reason for the Season.
“I must not forget to add that as we are having merry and celebrating the joy of this season, we should not be unmindful of the integral message embedded in the whole celebration which is Christ” she stated.
The First Lady urged school children present at the event to emulate the meekness, simplicity and holiness of Jesus Christ, who rose from a very humble birth in a manger, to become the saviour of the world.
She expressed the belief that if all these attributes are integrated into the daily life of every individual, attaining the peak in life as students and as career individuals would be seamless and will be better guided.
The General Manager of LTV, Mrs. Funke Moore described the 2017 edition of the Fair as a special one, coinciding with the Golden Jubilee celebration of Lagos State created in 1967.
She disclosed that the celebration will witness different games and quiz competitions among school children with a major focus on Lagos State
