The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Kola Abiola has expressed optimism and confidence about winning the 2023 election in Nigeria.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the national secretariat of the PRP, the younger Abiola said just like his father, Chief MKO Abiola emerged victorious in the 1993 presidential election, he is confident of victory in the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, the youths of the country must be ready for true change which is what he is offering, adding that he plans to run an inclusive government. He made the submissions after collecting his certificate of return as the PRP presidential candidate.
He said, “I didn’t join the PRP because I was looking for a platform. I joined the PRP after doing my research. I joined because I believed in its ideology. There will be no sabotage from in between because we have not eaten anything before.
“I want to appeal to the youth to know that we are the vehicle of change. We are going to run an all-inclusive government. If we can win the 1993 election about 30 years ago, we can also win it now. I won Kano in 1993 with my father, collectively, and we must win it again. To make this happen, our thought process must change.”
The late Chief MKO Abiola is the presumed winner of the 1993 presidential elections in Nigeria but the results were not officially declared as the election was annulled by the then Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida before the electoral umpire could declare the results officially.
