5 Ways to stay connected with your partner abroad

In today’s age of constant connection, it can be hard to stay in contact with our significant others while they’re away. Work, school, hobbies or friends can take up much of our time, but one thing that shouldn’t affect our time with partners is distance and lack of communication. The good thing is that we have many options to keep up with our partners and enjoy their company even with distance being a factor.

Here are some ways you and your partner can stay connected:

Video Calling

This is a pretty common option for many people. It’s free on most social media apps and is really effective. Seeing your partner’s face is much more relaxing than just hearing their voice and can be done from nearly anywhere, without long distance charges that will run up your phone bill. Video calling also works on computers too for when you want to get comfy at home, in bed.

Online Video Games

Not a traditional choice for partners, but this adds the bonus of having fun while staying connected. Building teamwork while having goals in a game is a healthy alternative, plus you can use headsets to talk just like a phone call. Phones, consoles and computers allow for a huge selection of what to play depending on your mood or your partner’s choice.

Intimacy

Depending on your relationship, intimacy can be highly valued. Being abroad makes this an issue, but there are a lot of ways to beat the distance. One of which is sex toys, wireless wifi toys are the best for this. Controlled through bluetooth and from a distance, these toys can keep the spark of intimacy and physical fun alive even when your partner isn’t around. They range in styles and functions so you and your partner can find something that works best for your sexual needs.

Letters

One of the classic ways to keep connected is through letters and mail. When everything has gone digital, sometimes it’s fun to use this method to remind our partners that we’re thinking about them. Although it’s a lot harder and slower to get mail to your partner abroad, it’s still cheap and very thoughtful to write a nice letter or send a postcard of your location to remind them of home. Nothing says I miss you like some well thought out postage.

Shared Activities

This one is another great option, and that is to share activities with your partner. Watching movies or shows, or even reading a book together is a good way to make the distance disappear. Easily accomplished over video calling, you can make a habit of enjoying shared hobbies or interests with your partner and catch up on anything you want to watch or read.

Long distance isn’t always easy, but it is manageable and communication is key to a successful relationship or partnership. With these tips, hopefully you can find a fun way to stay in touch with your partner whether they’re across the country or across the world!
