Biem And Toho Yilan Festival

This is festival of hunting wild games among Tiv people. ‘Biem’ is interclan /community while ‘Toho Yilan’ is intra-clan. The bush is allowed to stay for a period of 5 – 10 years in burnt condition preparatory to the festival. The elders of the clan involved organized hunting expedition and feasting.

the hunters who usually use local hunting tools like bows and arrows, cutlasses, sears, matches, Dane-guns all await patiently at the mapped out area. It is accompanied by all kinds of dances and takes place between December to April.
