23rd LAPO Annual Development Forum By: Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO)

We are exceedingly delighted to invite you to the 2016 Annual LAPO Development Forum. The Annual LAPO Development Forum was initiated in 1994 and has become a faculty of development in its own right. The annual conferencing has stimulated discourse on the development agenda in Nigeria and Africa with very realistic solutions canvassed by guest lecturers and conferees.

The overall theme of this year’s edition is “Food Security And Sustainable Agriculture In Nigeria: Challenges And Opportunities.” This year, Dr Nteranya Sanginga, Director-General, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) will present the keynote address. Prof. Valentine Aletor, former Vice-Chancellor, Elizade University will speak on Agriculture, Women Empowerment and Food Security while Dr. Clement O. Illoh, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity is expected to discuss Enhancing Youth Employment Through Agricultural Development. Development partners, policy makers, academia, and leading civil society organizations shall make valuable contributions with inputs from key sectors of the economy.

Lift Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) is a leading non-governmental organisation committed to the social, health and economic empowerment of the poor and vulnerable in Nigeria. The organization was founded by Dr. Godwin Eseiwi Ehigiamusoe in 1987 while working as a Rural Cooperative Officer at Ogwashi-Uku in the defunct Bendel state. Over the years, the organisation has demonstrated uncommon commitment to poverty alleviation through the implementation of innovative credit and non-credit programmes. Issues addressed include economic disequilibrium, poor health, poor nutrition, discrimination, low self-esteem, ignorance, social exclusion and gender inequity.
