The 25th anniversary of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Festival of the Arts begins tomorrow. Chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Ibare Akinsan, said the mini festival will feature four events beginning with MUSON Day tomorrow.
There will also be cocktail, fanfare, traditional dirge music and cutting of the anniversary cake. This will be followed by the Francesca Emanuel Memorial Concert, in honour of one of the founding members and patron of MUSON.
A two-day musical drama production will follow on Friday and Saturday, titled The Lost Chord, sponsored by Chevron.
The play, which highlights achievements that come with pursuing one’s dreams and aspirations, is produced by the DeClassical Arts group, and directed by Ayo Ajayi.
The Francesca Emanuel Jazz Party, also in honour of Francesca Emanuel, will feature The MUSON Diploma School Band accompanying renowned saxophonist, Imoleayo Balogun and talented Jazz female singer, Yinka Davies, alongside other artistes on Saturday.
The festival will end on Sunday with a performance by MUSON Soloists and the MUSON Symphony Orchestra conducted by international ace German orchestra conductor, Water Michael Vollhardt.
